Registering Your Domain
What a domain does for you:
Having your own domain allows you to have a web site that people can access by typing www.yourdomainname.com into their web browser. It also allows you to receive email addressed to yourname@yourdomain.com.
If you operate a business you should consider registering (or having it registered for you) a domain.
If you choose to register your domain yourself, listed below are the steps involved in the process.
Find a name that you are satisfied with.
There are several websites that can help you find a name that is available & suitable for your use.
Register the name.
A name can only be registered once. Even if you don't have immediate plans create a website, you should register the name so that it is available when you want to use it.
Arrange to have the web site hosted.
You must arrange with an Internet Service Provider to host the website. you can expect to pay monthly fees to maintain the site & there may be a setup fee. these fees typically run approximately $20.00 per month (Fourway's rate).
